Amazon from e-commerce to the cloud

When Amazon first started out, it was all about selling books on the Internet, which it did very well. Then, the company started selling different kinds of products on its website and started letting its members sell through the site.

This made Amazon the biggest e-commerce company in the world in terms of sales and market value.

With a massive number of products, customers, and partners, Amazon topped the e-commerce pyramid. In 2005, for example, Amazon had the largest Linux database in the world, with a storage capacity of 24.7 terabytes, which was a huge number at the time.

It was necessary to develop an infrastructure that can withstand this enormous pressure in addition to developing software that aids in nearly complete automation to adapt to the enormous amount of data that the company processes and to provide a strong service to customers without problems.

Over the years, this infrastructure has shown that it works, and Amazon has gained enough experience in this field that it decided to turn this infrastructure and experience into money. So, the idea for Amazon Web Service, also known as AWS, came about.

Amazon Web Service is a cloud computing-based on-demand online computing service. There are up to 200 services available, including virtual computing services, storage, databases, and so on.

More than 125 data centres in 27 geographic regions around the world support these services, with about 1.4 million servers operational in 2021.

Amazon’s strong infrastructure and wide range of services have attracted high-quality clients like NASA, the CIA, Netflix, and many large, well-known companies from around the world.

Amazon’s success in the e-commerce industry, along with the infrastructure and applications it created to support that growth, inspired the company to advance the concept of cloud computing, making it a global major player.
